Obituarie
Mindert 'Mike' De Vries
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Merced District for Mindert B. "Mike" De Vries, 84, who died
Thursday at a Merced hospital.
Inurment will take place at Merced District Cemetery.
Mr. DeVries was a retired dairyman who had lived in the community for 10 years. He was born in
Holland.
Survivors include one daughter, Greta Holman of Artesia. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mindert married Tina de Vos in 1925.
Marriage Notes:
Grandpa Mike and Grandma Tina had 4 daughters. One daughter, Ida died
coming
to the USA with a hole in her heart. Another daughter, also Ida, died
riding
her bike, she was hit by a drunk driver, my mother saw it happen. Grandpa
Mike enjoyed the horses (he raced buggy horses) liked to gamble at the horse
races also. He was a big man (6'2", 220 lbs) light hair and light blue
eyes. Grandma Tina was lots of fun, very easy to like.
